WMS Junior Beta Club

7th and 8th Grade Junior Beta Club Main Page Image

Members of the WMS Jr. Beta Club are able to make very valuable and rewarding contributions to our community.  Beta Club members volunteer their time and energy for such things as the Whitwell Police Department Christmas toy drive and donations for the Ronald McDonald House, etc.

Beta Club members are rewarded by the option to participate in educational field trips.  The Beta Club helps students pay for some of these trips by having fundraisers.  Members of the Beta Club receive a membership pin, personalized membership card, certificate, and a subscription to the Beta Journal.

Beta Club Facts and Information:

·         The Beta Club has a total membership of over 600,000 members. The total number of alumni is in excess of 6,000,000 members. In addition to the clubs in the United States, we have clubs in the Bahamas, Bahrain, Guam, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands.

·         Students pay a one-time $15.00 fee for Junior membership (grades 7-8).

·         All members must achieve and maintain an overall average of 93 or above with no grade lower than 85 (this is with no rounding).  If a student does not meet these requirements at the end of a 9-week period, he/she will be placed on probation.  However, he/she will still be eligible for Beta Club activities.  To remain in Beta Club, the student must have his/her grades back up at the end of the next 9-weeks.

·         Membership is a privilege and not a right. The qualifications for membership on the part of the student shall be: (a) worthy, moral and ethical character, (b) good mental attitude, (c) creditable achievement, and (d) commendable attitude. The standards and means for appraising these qualities shall be determined by the administration of Whitwell Middle School.

·         Free unlimited use to the Beta Club's members-only award-winning educational web site, the BetaWeb.  Students also have an outlet to express creativity (poetry, writing, short stories and photography) in the student magazine, Beta Journal.
