WMS Students are "Scratching"!

Students at Whitwell Middle recently started Scratching!  This "Scratch" has nothing to do with a rash; it is a way to start Coding!  Coding is the programming of computers to do various tasks.  The computer language, known as Scratch, was developed at MIT and is a great tool for students to get involved in computer science and develop coding skills.

Students in grades 5, 6, and 7 stay after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays to work through a curriculum developed by Google.  This group is sponsored by teacher volunteer, Ms. Sandy Roberts.  "It is great to see these children get lost in the world of Scratch and to see what amazing things they can create!  Each challenge will bring on a new skills and will help prepare them for their final project which we will share with the parents and community."
